HEAVY DAMAGES
CASE AT WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 11. Damages amounting to £l6lO and costs were, awarded in the Supreme Court to-day to James Marshall, former superintendent engineer to Cable and Co., from whom lie claimed £3OOO for alleged wrongful dismissal and also asked for judgment for a share of the net profits which, he contended, was due to him. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) said the company had claimed that, by reason of incompetence and negligence on plaintiff’s part, his dismissal was justified, but they had failed to prove it. He accepted Marshall’s testimony against- that of the defence whenever there was a conflict, and thought the company had only itself to blame for all the trouble and, therefore, must pay damages.
