TE ARAKURA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TE ARAKURA, March 11
Mrs J. Whittle is spending a holiday at Hamilton and is the of Mrs E. Melton. Miss R. Christensen is staying with Mrs Danolt, of Christchurch. Mr J. Rose, of Waikanae, is spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs W. E. Thomas. Miss M. Burnham, who has returned home from hospital, is rapidly improving. Tho friends cf Mrs R. Stuart, Cameron’s Line, will bo pleased to know that she is now progressing satisfactorily after her operation on Friday. A number of pupils frcin the local sclicol attended tho combined school sports held at Fcilcling on Saturday. Gwen Dudson and Millie To Oka were both successful m winning one event each. Tho To Arakura Tennis Club s B team travelled to Whakarongo on Saturday to play a friendly match against the team there. A win for Whakarongo resulted by 9 games to 7. The local players wore: A. Thomas, M. Firth, J. Bennett, R. Sullivan, IC. Heta, K. Thomas, Mrs Hcta and Mrs Drummond. The Arakura cricket team journeyed to Makowhai on Saturday morning and played an enjoyable gamo. The Makowhai team won by 'a largo margin. The players of the local team were: C. Avery, A. Clifford, P Palmer, A. Hanson, J. Wasley, G. Firth, L. Hansen, L. Gannaway, W. Hepburn, D. Thomson, and E. Stevenson. Die Makowhai team entertained tho visitors at dinner. . At the To Arakura Tennis Club s court on Saturday a match was played between Kairanga and To Arakura. Iho results wore as follow, Kairanga players being mention first: Singles: I. Davey lost to Sorenson 4—6; L. Clarko lost to J. Simeon, 4 6; L.' Burmcister beat A. Te Oka, 6—4-' O. Burmcister lost to B. Lower, 2 6. Doubles: Davey and Clarke beat Sorenson and Simeon, 9-6: L. Burmcister and 0. Burmcister lost to To Oka and Lcwci. 5- 0. Aftenloon tea was served by the Jadios.
