TAIKOREA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIKOREA, March 11.

On Saturday the Carnarvon and Taikorea, B tennis teams tried conclusions at Taikorea, when a return match was played. Only four ladies and four men played cn each side and though Carnarvon had an easy win some very interesting games were witnessed, there being some very good rallies between closely matched opponents. Afternoon tea was served at the close of play. Mr Wood 3 thanked the Taikorea players for their hospitality, Mr A. J. Castle replying for the local team. Detailed scores were as follow, the local players being mentioned first: —Men’s singles: A. J. Castle heat Woods, 6—4; W. Hunter beat Burne, 6 —o; G. Hill beat W. Giles, 6—4; ~ Hehir lost to H. Dixon, 3—6. Ladies’ singles: Miss Cornwall lost to Miss Smith, 5—6; Miss Standen lost to Miss Duthie, 3—6; Mrs Castle lost to Miss Murray, 5—6; Miss Mudford lost to Miss Scott, o—6. Men’s doubles: Castle and Hunter beat W T oods and Burne, 6—2; G. Hill and Hehir lost to Giles and Dixon, 4—6. Ladies’ doubles': Misses Cornwall and Standen beat blisses Smith and Dutbie, 6—5; Mrs Castle and Miss Mudford lost to Misses Murray and Scott, I—6. Mixed doubles: Castle and bliss Cornwall lost to Woods and Miss Smith, 2—6; Hunter and Miss Standen beat Burne and Miss Duthie, 6—5; G. Hill .and Mrs Castle lost to bliss Murray and Giles, 4 6 ; J. Hehir and Miss Cornwall lost to Dixon and bliss Scott, I—6. Carnarvon were victorious by 10 sets and 80 games to 6 sets and 62 games. Tho second assistant at the Taikorea Dairy Company’s factory has commenced his annual holiday. Mr and Mrs J. C. Ward and their son spent the week-end in Wanganui. Mr T. Richmond is spending a holidav with his parents, Mr and Mrs A. Richmond, of Taikorea. Mr R. Print is at present on holiday. During the past week there has been a. slight but decided rise in the milk supply Evidently the rain was just in time to accomplish this. The weather during the last week has been ideal, though the mornings are rather chilly.
