(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, March 1.
Charged with disorderly conduct, a young man named Denis Cronin was fined £3, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. Ho asked for time to pay, but this tho Bench refused to do. The charge was a sequel to an incident at a dance at the Otaki railway on Wednesday night. Tho rainfall in Otaki for February was 349 inches, tho heaviest daily fall being 2.59 in on tho 21st. Further rain, however, is needed for farm lands. Mr and Mrs Mackic have returned from a trip to the north. Mr and Mrs Ray Bills, after a motor trip to Napier and Wanganui, have returned to Otaki. Mr j. Ayre, who has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital for some years, visited Otalci on Wednesday. Mr F. Duffin of Mataroa, lias been appointed to the railway staff to fill the vacancy eausou by Mr Moachcn’s transfer to Napier.
