The principal of a local firm received an unpleasant surprise one night this week when, after working at his office till a late hour, he found that he could not lock the door of the strongroom. A few days previously a piece of the key had broken in the lock, but it appeared to make no material effect until the broken bit of metal worked' down into the mechanism to throw the lock out of operation. The services of a locksmith had to be sought next day to rectify matters.
