By a thoughtful action of the manager of the Palace Theatre, a pleasant surprise yesterday awaited 250 happy children, who had been invited ‘from the All Saints’ Orphanage and others, who through circumstances, had been unable to attend the screening of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island,” favourite story of many a school boy. With the co-operation of the Mayoress, Mrs A. E. Mansford. Mesdames S. V. Trask, 11. Palmer and R. A. Usmar, who were in attendance to give the children a real treat, icecream was freely distributed prior to the screening and proved tremendously popular. Yet still more surprises were to come!
