NEW KAWHIA CHURCH.
CEREMONY BY MAORI KING. KAWHIA, Nov. 19. Everything is in readiness for the laying of the foundation-stone of the Kawhia Memorial Church on Saturday. The church is being erected to commemorate the centenary of the landing of the first Methodist missioner in Kawhia, and 'a large gathering of natives and pakehas front all over the province is expected for the event.
The Maori “King” will lay the foun-dation-stone, using for the ceremony the Bible that has been used at the crowning of all the Maori “Kings.” A number of visiting clergymen, including Rev. A. J. Seanter, general superintendent of the New Zealand Methodist Mission, will be present. Aeroplanes from Auckland are expected to land on the pipi beds in the harbour when the tide suits during the day.
