RANGIOTU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RANGIOTU, Nov. 11. A social and dance under the auspices of ihe Rangiotu Hall Society was hold in the local hall last Friday evening. As anticipated, the function proved to be an outstanding success, and the programme submitted by the dramatic circle of the Rangiotu Women’s Institute, also by talented artists from Feilding, was thoroughly enjoyed and highly appreciated by the largo audience present. After the concert ( supper was provided which w’as then followed by a dance, excellent music being supplied by Mr To Oti, of Palmerston North. At an opportune moment Mr R. .10. Dixon (chairman) on behalf of the Hall Society thanked all those present for their patronage, and also those who so very kindly contributed tho excellent items during the evening. Their efforts had been most splendid as evidenced by tho manner in which their items had been received throughout the course of the evening’s concert programme. Ho specially thanked the performers from Feilding who came freely to assist in making the function both a social and a financial succes. The curtain rose to a pianoforte solo by Miss Croad, of Mangawhata. Two playettes were presented by the drama circle of the Women’s Institute, the first one being entitled ‘'The Imaginary Aunt” (Mrs Saywcll and Miss Feist in the leading roles, ably suppoTied by Mrs Kelly and Miss S. Croad), the second “Making It Pay” which created much amusement, tho following acting their parts well: Mesdames Beard, Baker, Russell, Saywell, Miss M. Quarrie and Miss Dixon. The items rendered by the Feilding concert party were: —Solo, Mr Shelton; humorous sketch. Mr Wood; solo, AI vs Worsfold; monologue, Miss Armour; duet, Mrs Worsfold and Mr Shelton; humorous monologue, Mr Wood; humorous sketch, Miss Armour and Mr Dcwe; humorous item, Mr Dewe.
Tlie wide circle of friends of Mr and Mrs A. Thosman will regret to learn that their son, R. Thcsman (aged 3 years), who was admitted to hospital some three weeks ago for rhouinatic fover, accidentally fractured a bone in his right leg last Wednesday. The mishap occurred while the lad was still in the institution.
