CHILD DROWNED
TRAGEDY AT FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Nov. 12.
Shortly before mid-day to-day the four-year-old son of Mr and Mrs R. Morris, of Johnston Street, Foxton, was drowned in the municipal baths. The caretaker, Mrs Dudson, left the baths shortly after 11 a.m. to transact some business at the Council .Chambers. There was then no one at the baths. On her return a short time afterwards Mrs Dudson was told by a child that a little boy was in the water. On looking across the pool the caretaker saw the body of the child floating. It was recovered but resuscitation proved unavailing. It is surmised that the two children wandered into the baths during the caretaker’s absence, and the small boy, who was fully clothed, fell in.
