Clark from Feilding and to both of them Mr Carthew extended the club's congratulations on their advancement. He lioped the club would enjoy a successful season and had much pleasure in declaring the courts open.

A Yankee tournament was then played, six courts being engaged and play limited to seven minutes in each set. At the end of the competition it was found that K. G. Salmond had won the men’s contest, while four ladies, Misses McLean, Wimsett, Gifford and Mrs Perry, had each secured equal points in their competition.
