FRENCH CABINET.

TRUCE TO CONTINUE

PARIS, Nov. 9. The new Cabinet is ofiicially announced as follows:

Premier, M. Flandin. . Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Laval. . Minister of Finance, M. Germain Martin. . , , . Minister of Marine. M. Pietri. Minister for Air, General Denain. Minister for the Colonies, M. Rollm. Minister of Pensions, hi. Rivollet. Minister of Justice, hi. Pernot. Minister of the Interior, hi. Regmer. Minister of Education, M. Mallarne. Minister of War. General Maurin. Minister of Public Works, M. Roy. Minister of Commerce, M. Merclianeea>i. . , Minister of Agriculture, M. Cassez. Minister of Labour, M. Jacquier. Minister of Post Office, M. Mendel Minister of Mercantile Marine, M. Ibertrand. Ministers of Health, hi. Queuille. Ministers without portfolios, M. Herriot and hi. Marin.

The Cabinet is balanced similarly to M. Doumergue’s. M. Flandin, in announcing the names, said that the truce continues and differences have been forgotten. M. Flandin will be the youngest Premier in the history of the Trench Republic. He is 45. years of age, and stands six feet six inches high. Despite the refusal of M. Tardieu and Marshal Retain to join him, M. Flandin completed a Cabinet of national truce to-night. Marshal Petain assures him of liis goodwill. The police in the city have been reinforced. The city is comparatively quiet except for parading bands of students and members of youth organisations whom the police keep moving. The Croix de Feu is calm, and refrains from meetings and speeches. It will give anyone with a clean political reputation a chance, but it was stated befor the new Cabinet was announced that there was no guarantee that a hurriedly-formed stop-gap Ministry would last more than a few weeks. Lobbyists declared that the pre-truce days *of three months’ Cabinets had returned. Patriotic organisations, though not mobilised, stand at attention awaiting events. The Action Francaise is preparing two demonstrations. To-day’s brief session of the Chamber ended with cries from the Left of “Down with assassins,” and shouts from the Right and Centre of “Vive Doumergue.” The Cabinet meeting, despite the mechanical procedure, did not lack drama inasmuch as it turned the last page in the last chapter of public service of “Papa” Doumergue, whose wife quietly awaited him outside his office while he cleared up his papers preparatory to handing over to M. Flandin on November 9.
