EXPLORATION WORK.
IN FAR SOUTH.
LITTLE AMERICA, Nov. 7. Because the tractor’s advance to the Queen Maude Range is blocked by an impenetrable belt of pressure ridges and crevasses, Rear-Admiral Byrd has ordered Blackburn’s geological party to proceed to the Queen Maude Range independently, using dog teams, in order to carry out their original mission. Morgan’s plateau party, which intends to take seismic soundings to determine the thickness of the continental ice sheet, has been ordered to consolidate with the tractor unit and to proceed eastward to the unexplored area.
