NIGHTLY WINS FISHER PLATE.

VOITRE IMPRESSES. MELBOURNE, Nov. 8. The weather was fine after heavy rain for the third day of tho V.R.C. races, at which there was a moderate attendance. K. Voitre (N.Z.) created a favourable impression with his handling of the Maiden Plato winner, Worthing. The colt is owned by his breeder, Mr Sol Green, and won in impressive style. Strathardalc had a comfortable win in the Byron Moore Stakes. The New Zealander, Golden Promise, who was suffering from shin soreness, did well to secure second. Tho winner is raced by tho V.R.C. chairman, Mr L. K. S. McKinnon, and has had' two wins and two thirds in four Nightly led always in tho C. B. Fisher Plate, and was not oxtended. The time was seconds outside the race record. Hall Mark made no impression in the final stages. . Villius was prominent always, and beat the fast-finishing Now Zealand-bred Bunsby Gaze in tho Carnival Handicap. Allenby. was unlucky, his rider losing his irons a furlong from home. Heywood,

the trainer, and Mr Cobbold, owner of Villius, wore associated with Danilo’s success in the Carnival Handicap last year. Alinura, owned and trained in South Australia, improved on her Wakeful Stakes form to register a comfortable win in the Oaks. She won the recent South Australian Derby. Quarto and Qaughtcr of the Wind ran gamo races. Queen Helen and Limyris wore below expectations. Upoko Ariki beat the pacemaker Burlesque narrowly in the Veteran Stakes.
