ECONOMIC UNDERSTANDING.
CO-OPERATION OF NORTHERN PEOPLES.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland met at Stockholm recently to discuss arrangements for a better economic co-operation between these countries; it was the first time that Finland ha.d been represented at a gathering of this kind. The conference decided to recommend in each country the constitution of small delegations who, in touch with trade and industry, will make proposals to their government. Further, it recommends that the Oslo Convention (besides the four Scandinavian countries, Belgium, Holland, and Luxembourg) be ada.pted to the actual circumstances. There does not appear to ha.ve been any discussion of political questions, although the speeches delivered pointed to an ever-increasing desire for a closer collaboration between the countries of the north, so that they may adopt a common attitude in the great questions of international policy.
