DAIRY PRODUCE.
BUTTER NOW 78s. MARKETS FIRM. There has been a very welcome improvement in the London butter market and prices have risen 14s a cwt during the last four weeks. On Tuesday the market was firm at up to 78s for finest and 76s for first grade. A fair amount of business is being done in butter locally at Bld alb f.o.b. for November-December shipment. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., have received from London the following cabled advice, dated November 6: — New Zealand butter: Finest, 77s to 78s; first, 765. Firm. The New Zealand Producers’ Cooperative Marketing Association’s weekly cabled market report from London dated November 6 is as follows: Butter: Market firm. New Zealand, finest, 78s; first grade, 765; Danish, 1245. Cheese: Market steady. New Zealand, white, 54s 6d; coloured, 53s 6d to 545.
SYDNEY WOOL SALES.
A FIRM MARKET. SYDNEY, Nov. 7. At the Sydney wool sales to-day, 11,512 bales were offered, of which 9950 bales were sold at auction; also 1565 bales were sold privately. The market continued firm at the recently enhanced rates, but there was still some irregularity in wasty fleece wools and ordinary to inferior burry lines. Greasy Merino sold to 17d for six bales from Gunning.
WELLINGTON MARKETS
FRUIT AND VEGETABLES. WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. Prices of fruit, vegetables, and other produce in the Wellington markets this week are quoted as follow Fruit.—Apples: Stunners, '4s 6d to 6s 6d a bushel; Delicious, 4s to 6s 6d; Washingtons, 6s 6d to 8s; cookers, 6s to 7s. Pears: Winter Coles, 7s to 9s a bushel; Winter Nelis, 5s to 7s; cookers, 6s to 7s. Strawberries, Is 2d to Is 5d per lb punnet. Passions, 10s to 12s 6d a half-case. Lemons, cured, 10s to 14s a bushel; others, 6s to 9s. Grapefruit, N.Z., 6s 6d to 7s 6d a bushel.
Vegetables.—Cucumbers 4s to 8s per dozen. Tomatoes, hothouse, Is 2d to Is 4d per lb. Gooseberries, 4£d to s£d per lb. French beans, Is 6d to Is 8d per pound. Potatoes, Dakotas, £5 10s per ton; Suttons £6. New potatoes, ljd to lid per lb. Green peas, 3d to 4d per lb. Broad beans, 5s 6d to 6s 6d bushel case. Asparagus, lOd to Is 2d per bundle. Onions, Brown Spanish, 8s to 10s cental bag. Cabbage, spring, Is Gd to 2s 9d a case. Lettuce, spring, Is to 3s a case. Cauliflowers, 7s to 9s per sack. Spinach, 3s to 4s a case. Carrots, 4d to Pd per bunch. Parsnips, 2s to 3s a case. Rhubarb, 3s to 4s doz bunches. White turnips, 3d to 5d per bunch. Swedes, 5d to 8d per bunch. Spring onions, Is to 2s 6d per bunch. Beetroot, 4d to 6d per bunch. Leeks, 3d to 6d per bunch.
Eggs.—Fresh, first grade, lid to Is per dozen. Honey, 8s 6d to 9s per dozen sections. Walnuts, 6d to 74d per lb.
COLOMBO TEA SALES,

The following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of November 6 has been received here :—At yesterday’s auction of 1,390,0001 b, all grades were Id to id dearer; quality of the offerings is declining. A total of 1,410,0001 b is catalogued for the sale next week.
