EX-SOLDIERS’ WIDOWS.
EXTENSION OF PENSION
SCHEME,
Mr H. G. Dickie, who said he was associated with all returned soldier members of the House, asked the Minister for Pensions to-day whether, in view of distress among the widows of returned soldiers who, by reason ol' the fact that they had married a soldier more than two years after his discharge from tlie force, were unable to obtain relief under the existing war pensions legislation, he would introduce a Bill to amend clause 2 of the Pensions Act to make provision for those cases. He added that there were only 160 cases in the Dominion, so the annual cost would not be large. Hon. J. G. Cobbe said it was proposed to deal with the matter as soou as practicable. When the legislation it was proposed to introduce was brought down, it was intended to include the widows and children of returned soldiers who were married more than two years after their discharge.
