In the House of Commons, Sir Philip Sassoon told questioners that negotiations were proceeding with the French Government concerning permission for British commercial ’planes to fly between Paris and Marseilles. Ho hoped a satisfactory settlement would soon bo reached.
British commercial aircraft speeds between England and Singapore ranged between 105 and 120 miles an hour and tho Dutch ’planes over the same rout© averaged between 107 and 119 miles an hour. The Government for some time had been considering proposals for accelerating the Imperial Airways services without disproportionately increasing the cost, but he could not at present make a statement on the subject. He hoped the new programme would be disclosed within a month or two.
