MEAT RESTRICTIONS

NO REPLY RECEIVED

OPINION IN "WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 4. The British Government has not yet replied to the New Zealand communication proposing modifications in the meat import restrictions. This is not unexpected, as with the House of Commons adjourning this week the Ministers will immediately take brief holidays. Therefore the negotiations may not be completed until late next week. Tho opinion here is that if the Home Government can be induced to exclude pork completely from tho quota New Zealand’s problem is capable of a fairly satisfactory solution on tho basis of the Ottawa year exports, plus 5 per cent.
