THE EMPIRE’S HELP.

CAUSE OF PEACE.

LONDON, May 24,

Apropos of Empire Day most newspapers carry editorials, and special pages of advertisements and write-ups on Dominion products. The Morning Post says: “Perhaps the chief certainty left in the world is the British Empire and its continuance.”

The Times says: “In the world to-day there are overwhelming difficulties in the way of achieving anything like universal peace ail'd freedom. An era of suspicious nationalism seems to make that ideal more remote than ever, but unquestionably the way to attain it lies through a gradual grouping of nations prepared to work and trade together and live in peace with one another. One group already formed for this great purpose is tlie group of British nations and dependencies.”
