Rev. H. J. Boyd Bell, Anglican minister of Kawliia, has been appointed vicar of Inglewood. Mr J. Peters was on Wednesday unanimously re-elected chairman of the Dannevirke County Council for the ensuing year.

At the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Power Board held this week Mr G. A. Monk, the retiring chairman, wa.s unanimously re-elected.

Mr K. W. Dalrymple, of Bulls, for whom a search is being made in Southland, where he is overdue in his return from a wapiti-hunting expedition, has been re-elected chairman of the Rangitikei County Council.

Professor R. E. Alexander, C.M.G., director of the Canterbury Agricultural College, and Mrs Alexander, who have completed 25 years’ service at Lincoln, were honoured . this week by a large and representative gathering at the college.

Mr R., Moffatt, manager of the Dunedin branch of the National Bank, will leave for Wellington o-n May 30 to take up a new position in the general manager’s office there. Mr 1. S. Cantrell, who succeeds Mr Moffatt, has ‘arrived in Dunedin. Passengers on the Niagara, which left Sydney yesterday for Auckland, include Sir Philip and Lady Game, Mr G. R. Stephens, Canadian GovernmentTrade Commissioner in Australia; Mr L. Pouishnoff, the pianist; Mr Horace Stevens, the singer; and Professor G. Henderson. The latter is en route to Fiji. Rev. J. J. Heard, rector of Christ Church, St. Lawrence, Sydney, arrived this week on a holiday visit to the Dominion. He is a great-great-grandson of the Rev. Samuel Marsden, New Zealand’s earliest missionary. He was born in Australia, although his mother was from New Zealand,' and he has lived most of his life in various parts of the Commonwealth. This is his first visit to the Dominion.
