RELIEF OF DISTRESS.
HARBOUR BOARD GIVES £IOOO. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. The Lyttelton Harbour Board lias decided to give £IOOO for the relief of distress in the city and surrounding districts this winter. The grant, which is a similar amount to that given by the board last year, will be divided into two sections of £SOO each. One will go to the fund being raised by the Canterbury Progress League, and the other amount will be distributed in districts in the hoard’s representation area as decided by a special committee of the board.
