RUGBY IN SCHOOLS.
MOVE FOR IMPROVEMENT. In order to provide the selectors with a better opportunity of viewing the talent coming forward in the district for primary school teams, a.nd in order t.o provide the best of the primary school players with more team work, a meeting of representatives of primary schools in the Manawatu Rugby Union’s district and representatives of the union last night decided upon a quadrangular tournament for teams selected from the Te Kawau, Oroua, Feilding and Manawatu unions. Those present at the meeting were Messrs A. W. Thompson (chairman), L. G. Berry, D. C. Pryor, D. Minogue, C. Haydon, J. Connor and L. J. Plank. The objects in having such a competition were outlined by Mr Pryor and the decision to institute a competition was made on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Berry. The secretary was instructed to notify the Oroua, Feilding and Te Kawau unions of the decision and ask for their comments. The various unions are to be asked to set up sub-commit-tees to deal with the matter in their districts.
