(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, April 9. On Easter Monday the liorowhenua Rifle Association held its championship meeting. The weather was perfect and the shooting was of a high standard, the scratch men having a day out. The championship was won bv 11. Hunt (Petonc), who went to the final 600yds with 101, finishing in the final with 34 and beating the runner-up, who made 33, by 2 points (H. W. Feast). The winner takes the belt and a medal and the Frosli Food Cup. Three-quarters of the teams entries went to Cheltenham Rifle Club with a total of 474, the runners-up being Grcytown 470. There were seven teams entered. The chief prizewinners were: Upper Hutt Linton Match, R. C. Barklc, 35, £2 10s. Ngatiawa Whareroa Match, R. Tliorby, 35, £2 10s. Hautcre Levin Match, H. Hunt, 34, £2 10s. Final 600yds, for the 15 highest off rifle, 11. Hunt, 135, £2 10s, belt and medal; 11. W. Feast, 133, £1 10s: K. Harcourt, 132, £l. Teams Match, Cheltenham, 474, 1. The Otaki-Shannon football match at Otaki on Saturday caused interest and some good first-of-season play was witnessed. Otaki won 25-3. Mr J. Bailey has been appointed gatekeeper for matches to bo played at Otaki under the jurisdiction of the liorowhenua Rugby Council. Mrs Wilson and Mrs Batchelar, of Auckland, have returned to Otaki to take up their residence. In a bowling match at Otaki, on Saturday, Levin beat the local players by a substantial number of points. Mr D. S. Mackenzie (Levin) has been appointed patron of the liorowhenua Hockey Association. Mr 11. Nicolson lias been re-elected president and Mr H. Witched re-elected secretary and treasurer.
