CROQUET
TAKARO CLUB’S GALA. Favoured with a beautiful day and amid the pleasant surroundings ol' their picturesque greens, members of tile Takaro Croquet Club held another of their enjoyable gala days last Wednesday. Competitions of various kinds were played, the winners being as follow : —2O-minute games, Mrs Field and Mrs Durham; zig-zag, Mrs Colquhoun; golf, Mrs Bovis; angles, Miss Tennant; ladder, Mrs Lyall. A dainty afternoon tea was served in the pavillion, each member being the recipient of an Easter egg.
Members did not forget their esteemed and valued clubmate, Mrs C. Usmar, who is at present seriously ill in hospital, the gift of a beautiful bouquet and an Easter egg being sent to her with every good wish for a speedy return to her normal health. Charming bouquets were presented to Mrs R. Field and Mrs Colqnhoun in z-ecognition of their successes at the recent tournament. Mrs E. Anstis, the club’s energetic secretary, was also presented with a bouquet and accorded musical honours.
