Grumpy led in the early stages, ITybiscus then taking charge, with Hunting Jay joining the leader into the straight. The favourite then ran on to win easily by three lengths. Grumpy was a similar distance away and Marae Quex was fourth. Time, 1.4 1-5. OKAWA HANDICAP, of £IOO. Six furlongs. 2-1 SPEED, 8.12 (B. H. Morris) 1 3-3 SOUCHONG, 8.9 (Reed) 2 1-2 ROYAL HUNTING, 9.9 (Atkins) ... 3 Also started : 7-6 Slippery 9.1, 4-4 Cullus 8.9, 8-8 Royal Bengal 8.0, 5-5 Hunting Day 7.8, 6-7 Stitch car. 7.16£, 9-9 Sylvan Dell 7.0. Speed started well, Souchong afterwards taking tho lead. Speed came through to win comfortably by one and a halt lengths from Souchong, with Royal Hunting two lengths further back. Cullus was lourth.
