Eleven notorious brigands who were awaiting trial for a village hold-up in Bhagalpur State made a daring escape from gaol at Bhagalnagar yesterday, and are at present terrorising the countryside. They tricked a sentry into opening their cells, seized his rifle, shot and severely wounded him,, then looted the police armoury of eleven guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and fled into the jungle. The seventeen-year-old daughter of Comilla, a Government pensioner, has been arrested in connection with terrorist activities.
