“CAN’T HAVE HALF AND HALF.”

Received April 7, 12.40 p.m. OTTAWA, April 6. “The Labour Party will not take office unless it has a clear majority over the whole House, and then it will do so with the avowed intention of completely changing the Capitalistic system,” stated Sir Stafford Oripps, the former Solicitor-General of the United Kingdom, when interviewed today. He said the trouble with the former Labour Government liad been that it had tried to be Socialistic under a Capitalistic regime. “You can’t have half and half. That is the reason why the Communist ownership of certain things like the Canadian National Railways often fails to work,” said Sir Stafford.
