MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
At the Magistrate’s Court today, before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., a young man, Joseph Arthur Collins, was charged that, on April 5 at Levin, by means of a valueless cheque signed D. R. Smith and drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Palmerston North, lie attempted to secure from George Wise a wristlet watcli of the value of £1 10s and £3 5s in cash with intent to defraud. On the application of Senior-Detective Quirke accused was remanded till the 13th inst.
