THE DOMINIONS’ EXPORTS. LONDON, April 6. Mr Stanley Baldwin, -writing to the Worcestershire Farmers’ Union, admits that beef prices remain unsatisfactory, but claims that within the limits of international and inter-im-perial obligations the Government has taken more drastic steps to reduce imports than anyone would have thought possible 18 months ago. These had prevented a more catastrophic fall of prices. “It should be borne in mind that an entirely new factor will operate in June when the Ottawa meat agreements with the Dominions end,” he said. The chairman complained that the only result of cutting South American imports had been to encourage Canadian and New Zealand producers to flood the market.
