TAONUI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAONUI, April 5. A mooting of the School Committee was hold last evening, those present being Messrs McFarland (chairman) Osborne, Marston and Mrs Cochrane, and the head teachers (Miss Curtis). An apology for absence was received from Mrs McFarland. There was a fair amount of business to be dealt with owing to tho fact, that no mooting was held last month. This teacher (Miss Curtis). An apology for mittoe, tho report and balance-sheet woro road and adopted. The balance showed a credit for tho new committee to commence with. The front paddock has been ploughed, levelled and sown down in grass by members of the committee and should in duo time prove an excellent football ground for the children. The chairman thanked tho other members for their cooperation and for the amount of work done, all of which had been voluntary, in the interest of the- school. Ho also hoped that, each member would consider standing for re-election at the forthcoming householders’ meeting. During the month the physical instructors paid a visit to the school and spent an afternoon talking with the children; the senior classes from To Arakura School wero also present.. The following children desorve congratulations on tho prominent places they attained in their respective heats at tho recent school sports held in Feilding: Patty Parker, Marion McFarland, Dcva Funston, J. McFarland and J. Kendrick, while Marion McFarland also gained second place in the final The children did very well considering tho little training they had and with more next year Taonui should gain a much more prominent place. In a recent writing competition' the following competitors wore awarded prizes: Mona Wiiiteibum, Georgina Noble, Dorothv Parker, Norma Noble and J. McFarland.
