CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 14. • Arrested on his return from the Antarctic in the Bear of Oakland, Peter Bardebes appeared before Mr E. Page, S.M., to-day, charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. Counsel said arrangements had been made to have accused before the Court so that the question of hail could be considered. He understood Ba.rdebes was under the influence of liquor and struck a man in a bar at the Wellington races last November. The man fell on the concrete floor and sustained injuries to liis head. A remand was made to March 21, bail of £IOO being allowed.
