FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
OROUA LODGE OF DRUIDS. At the last meeting of the Oroua Lodge of Druids, A.D. Bro. McKenzie presided over a good attendance, including visiting members from Paliiatua. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Bro. J. Cottam. An invitation was received from Horowhenua Lodge to a social and dance and also inviting the brothers’ ritual team to carry out an initiation ceremony. A large number signified their willingness to travel. P.A. Bro. Gilmore reported on the activities of the Friendly Societies’ Council. P.A. Bro. W. Gilmore was elected to the position of juvenile lodge superintendent. A Past Arch collar with case and diploma was presented to Bro. Gold by a visiting Past Arch from Pahiatua on behalf of Oroua Lodge. It was decided to hold a mock election at next lodge meeting, and P.A. Bros.. Gold and Rice are to again lie the candidates. After the closing of lodge an interlodge dance was held, P.A. Bro. Brogden acting as M.C. and members of the various lodges in the city being present. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Sister Andrews, of Pahiatua, and Bro. Jones, of Oroua. A dainty supper was served by a willing band of workers. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” concluded a very enjoyable evening. ,
