(From Our Own Correspondent.) 1 OTAKI, Oct. 30. \ Mr D. Blako is at present a patient all Queen Mary’s Hospital, Hamner Springs.] Mrs Blako, who is in Christchurch, hegros to return to Otaki this week. The death occurred at Masterton on Saturday of Mr Edward Buckley, a "Well-known resident. The deceased gentleman was a brother-in-law of Messrs .Fogdcn Brothers, of Otaki. Mr J. Fogdcn left for tho Wairarapa this morning, but on account of illness .Mr W. Fogdcn was unable to make the trip. Mrs Webster returned from Sydney last week, after spending a v?ry pleasant sojourn in various parts of Australia. Mr Webster expects to. return at the end of November. Owing to tho rain on Saturday all outdoor sports in this district wore postponed. Owing to tho illness of Mr W. T. Strand, one of the Commissioners of the Assessment Court for tho faim lands list for the Borough of Otaki, tho date of hearing objections has beenl adjourned till November 30. ' The bazaar organised by the combined guilds of All Saints’ (Otaki), St. Andrew’s (Manakau), and St. Margaret’s «JTo Horo), was held in the Parish on Friday last. Tho hall and the stalls wore ’beautifully decorated, and the attendance was most encouraging. The total result was very satisfactory. A fcaturo that attracted young and. old was the magic cave, which was designed by Miss Allen and assistants, and the distribution- of souvenirs was attended to by Miss Manz and Miss Swenson, who were ably assisted by a staff of young people. By 8 p.m. tho ha!! was cleared and an excellent concert followed. The seating accommodation was taxed to the utmost, and full appreciation was accorded the performers.
