BURGLARY IN FEILDING.
MESSRS COBBE’S PREMISES ENTERED. WEEK-END INCIDENT. For the second time this year, the last occasion being about six months ago, Messrs John Gobbe and Coy’s, drapery premises in Feilding were burglariously entered over the week-end. Entrance was gained through a back window, the intruder breaking a pane of glass and raising the catch. Forcing the lock of a door he then gained access to the shop and .an attack was made on the door of the strongroom. Explosives were used, but as on the prior occasion the door withstood the efforts to force it open. The lock itself was broken by the charge, but the levers could not be moved v A further charge of explosive was then used on the brickwork at the side of the door, but this had little effect. Foiled in the attempt on the strongroom the intruder turned his attention to the shop, indications this morning showing that several departments had been visited and goods removed. The burglary was discovered at 8 o’clock by an employee of the firm and the police were notified. Sergeant Antdand of Feilding, and Detective Barling,'of Palmerston North, arrived on the scene and investigations are being pursued.
