The programme was as follows : Overture ; Mr 9 Keith Jones, songs, “Sally” (by request) and “Have You Ever Been Lonely, Have You Ever Been Blue?”; Mr AV. Crewes, “The Smugglers’ Song”; three short pictures, showing trick motor cycle riding scenes in Devon and scenes in Barbados and Trinidad. The playing of Cluny MacPlierson’s band was outstanding and their treatment of several numbers was quite original. \ ersatility was? shown by the various members when they were introduced as soloists, and their work was fully applauded. During an interval Miss Kathleen Richards was introduced from the stage and the announcement made that Cluny MacPherson and his band would be playing at the masquerade ball. Y.M.C.A. DISPLAY. The presentation of the Y.M.C.A. gymnastic and drill display at the Opera House on Saturday night, in aid of the Plunket and Retailers’ Queens, attracted an excellent attendance and the patrons showed their appreciation of the various evolutions with enthusiastic plaudits. Woods (instructor) and the principals in the display for presenting a performance for the benefit of the two committees, an effort which would result in a pleasing addition to the funds.
