THREAT TO PEACE
FORCES IN CHINA. PEKIN CITY IN DANGER. JAPANESE PREPARE TO MOVE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph..—Copyright.) Received September 26, 8.40 a.m. SHANGHAI, Sept. 25. , The latest Pekin message indicates that, according to Chinese sources, approximately 35,000 Chinese troops are advancing towards Pekin. General Pang Chen Wu is commanding the rabble, augmented by roving bands of bandits, and has occupied the town of Niulanshan, which is 35 miles from the city. The Japanese ’are preparing to advance when the ultimatum to leave expires. General Pang CliSa Wu plans to attack Pekin while the bandits devote their attention to Tientsin. Tho Pekin correspondent of the Times reported last week that for the first time since tho truce a Japanese aeroplane had circled over Pekin, dropping showers of leaflets containing an ultimatum to General Fang Chen Wu to leave the demilitarised zone before September 26, otherwise the Japanese army would launch a punitive expedition without further warning.
