SENSATIONAL SMASH.
CAR STRIKES HOUSE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 26. A sensational motor smash occurred in Mount Eden early this morning, when a two-seater car, driven by a man in evening clothes, overturned and ran backwards. It crashed into the side of a house, smashing the windows of one room. The driver was slightly injured and later disappeared. He is being sought by the police. It is believed that the same car was involved in another accident a few minutes earlier when a man was knocked down and injured. The driver, although warned to stop, drove on. A constable, who heard the crash of the car, rushed along the road to a taxi, but valuable time was lost because the taxi driver was sound asleep. The constable then found Robert Done, aged 30, lying on the roadway, having been knocked from his cycle. His injuries are not serious.
