GARRISON BAND CARNIVAL.

To-morrow at 2 p.m. tho Garrison Band Carnival will be opened by tho Mayor (Mr A. E. Hansford) in the Empire Hall. At 3 p.m. a baby show will be held, one section for babios under six months and one for babies under 12 months. Those mothers who intend entering their babies should send entries to Mr J. H. White, secretary, Bank of New Zealand Building. In tho evening an attractive display of Irish dancing will be staged. On Thursday evening a splendid programme of fancy dancing is to bo given by tho pupils of Miss Gwen Gibbs, and on the following evening the' High School boys will give a physical culture display. On Saturday afternoon there will bo a competition for prizes for the best plain scones, plain and butter sponges, sponge rolls, and pikelets, and entries should be sent in to tho secretary. In tho evening a grand coster ball will bo held which will be a feature of the carnival. Tho fee has been fixed at tho low price o£ 3d per dance. Each evening dancing will be provided for everybody in the dance hall at the low price of Id per dance. In addition to these attractions there will be a weight guessing competition for a sheep presented by Mr J. Linklator, M.P., as well as games and competitions which will make the function a real carnival. Admission will bo free, so that no one.can afford to stay away.
