TRANSPORT LICENSES

NOV 6 AUTHORITY’S SITTING. Goods and passenger service applications were dealt with at a sitting which was commenced by the No. 6 Transport Licensing Authority at Palmerston North, yesterday afternoon and concluded to-day. Mr G. A. Troup presided, the other members being Messrs S. Jickel and W. I. Armstrong. The Railway Department was represented by Mr W. Sliierning. Adjourned applications by H. D. Meek for a passenger license over the Dannevirke-Pongaroa route and by A. O. Derrick for the DunnevirkeAkitio route were granted. Goods service licenses were granted to P. R. Kent (Pongaroa) and McLeavey and Roife (Te Horo).

An amendment to his license to increase his loading to 3 tons 17 cwt. was granted D. M. Conway (Pahiatua), it being stated that he had purchased'a new truck with an additional 14cwt. capacity to that for which he was already licensed. The announcement was made by the chairman that notice of the purchase of new vehicles must he given to the authority in future. Permission was refused B. H. AVills (Pahiatua) to deviate from his present service car route between Pahiatua and the Pahiatua railway station. An application by the Madge Char-a-banc Motor Co., Ltd., for a passenger authority for “mystery” trips in the counties of Manawatu was granted. Goods service licenses were granted to A. W. Bcarsle.v (Palmerston North), and H. R. Jensen (Palmerston North).

The authority will sit at Masterton to-morrow.
