GRAIN ALCOHOL.
A DOUBTFUL PROPOSITION. Received September 26, 1.5 p.m. CALGARY, Sept. 25. A plant to produce industrial alcohol from surplus wheat would be a doubtful business proposition, states Professor J. H. Shipley, of the University of Alberta, in a report to the Calgary Trade Board in Europe. Professor Shipley states that the manufacture of ethyl alcohol from farm jmoducts cannot compete with gasolene as a fuel, due to the relatively high price of these products for food jmrposes. Wherever alcohol is used in Europe as fuel it has government aid.
