HORNET MODEL AERO CLUB.

NEW RECORDS CREATED. The Hornet Model Aero Club had remarkable success over the week-end. Mr 11. G. Parker, the instructor, broke two New Zealand records in the rise off ground, spar model,’ ’seniors contest, both indoor and outdoor. The indoor time was bettered by" 25 seconds, making the time for this class 1 minute 42 seconds; and with the same machine he broke the outdoor class, beating the former holder, W. Mackley (Auckland) by 52 seconds, to register 14 minutes. It was a beautiful flight. The white pla.ne against the white clouds made it very hard to follow, but the green on the tips of the wings made it visible as it climbed at a wonderful height very quickly. The machine took off from Andrew Young Street at about 11.15 a.m. and flew over the Square at about 1000 ft.. high, heading in the direction of College Street. It them disappeared for a minute in a fleecy cloud, and when it reappeared it was over the Hokowhitu School after being 11 minutes in the air. It then headed over the river towards the hills, gaining height all the time till it looked like a small piece of white pa.per and disappeared into a large cloud three minutes later. It was then clocked down, making the flight 14 minutes. The plane was followed bv a large number of spectators. The club would be pleased to have information as to the machine’s whereabouts. .The timekeepers were D. Bottle, D. IV. Laing and -K. A. Annabel.
