NEW MOTOR SHIPS.
ORDER FOR BELFAST. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. The Federal Steam Navigation Company, Ltd., announces that it has contracted with Messrs Workman, Clark and Company, shipbuilders, of Belfast, for two motor ships, with dimensions and capabilities, as follow: Length, 490 feet between the perpendiculars; beam, 68 feet; gross tonnage, about 11,000; refrigerated space, 460,000 cubic feet; speed, about 16 knots per hour. The propelling machinery will be Sultzer engines, built by Messrs Workman, Clark and Company, and delivery of the ships is to bo given by the autumn of 1934.
