MELBOURNE MURDER.
A GANGSTER TYPE. MELBOURNE, Sept. 22. A murder of the American gangster type occurred at Fitzroy, when James John, aged 2-5, a labourer, was shot five times in the stomach and chest by a man who stepped out of a car and afterwards drove away with a companion. John, who died on the pavement, was in the company of a boxer named Clirisfield. When the car drew up, tlie bullets were deliberately rained at John, but Clirisfield was unharmed. He declares that the murderer was unknown to him.
