A COSTLY FIRE.
CATHEDRAL AND CONVENT. OTTAWA, Sept. 22. At Valley Field, Quebec, the- Catholic Cathedral, valued at 600,000 dollars, and the Convent of the Sisters of Jesus and Mary, valued at a million dollars, were destroyed by fire early on Friday. Five hundred pupils and nuns rushed to safety. No deaths resulted.
