COALITION WHIP.
MEMBER FOR PALMERSTON MENTIONED. WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. The appointment of a Whip in place of Hon. J. Bitchener, now a Cabinet Minister, will be a question to be decided at a caucus of the Coalition Party. When the Coalition Government was formed two years ago. Mr Bitchener, senior Reform Whip, and Mr A. J. Murdoch, who had been senior United Whip until promoted to Cabinet rank, were appointed Government Whips. As the nomination of Mr Bitchener’s successor is in the hands of the Reform Party, it is expected that Mr J. A. Nash (Palmerston), who was Junior Whip when the Reform Party was in opposition, will bo appointed.
