DAFFODIL DAY.
TECHNICAL SCHOOL EFFORT. The annual Daffodil Day effort on behalf of the various school funds was conducted with considerable success by the pupils and. staff of the Palmerston North Technical School to-day, and though few financial returns were available at the time of going to press, a generous public response was reported. Beautiful spring flowers had been brought in for sale by pupils and their friends from as far away as Levin, Manakau, Bulls, Sanson and Woodville, and they made a splendid collection. The effort was under the supervision. of the director (Mr G. G. Hancox), assisted by the teaching staff. The street stall was in the charge of Mesdames M. Aitchison, A. Barsanti and F. Hardy, assisted by girl pupils, and a special shop, where competitions were conducted, was tinder the control of Misses Jean and Janet Young, Miss McGibbon and other helpers. Mr D. E. Dredge conducted the copper trails, and Mr W. F. Goddard controlled the depot for the street divisions. Misses Ma.rdon and Vautier, assisted by girls, wero kept busy preparing the neat little posies and buttonholes which wero sold.
A house-to-house canvass with the flowers was made by over 100 pupils, and others invaded the business area with vigorous salesmanship.
