UNEMPLOYMENT TAX.
REDUCTION PROSPECTS RECEDING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. “We were hoping it might be possible to reduce the taxation levied for unemployment purposes, but there does not appear to be any immediate prospect of our being able to do that now,” said the Minister of Employment (Hon. A. Hamilton), in an interview this evening. Mr Hamilton said that had it not been for the building subsidy scheme it might have been possible to reduce the unemployment taxation slightly, but ho thought it would be agreed that that scheme would prove of great value in providing productive employment.
