CROSSING COLLISION.
CARTERTON ,Sept. 20. A motor-car driven by Mr Robert Campbell, of Longbush, was struck by the north-bound mail train from Wellington at a private crossing on the Masterton side of the Matarawa station this morning. Mr Campbell, who was the only occupant, of the car, suffered minor head injuries and a fractured leg. The car was badly damaged. The morning was wet and a farily strong wind was blowing. The train was only travelling at a moderate speed and was brought to a standstill within 50 yards of where the car was struck.
