The following is the annual report of the Feilding Cricket Association to be presented this week: “In the A grade competition for the Guthrie Senior Shield interest was well maintained and some keen games resulted. The Smitliers Shield for the B grade was won- by Sandon, and we extend our congratulations to . that club. Their win was all the more meritorious by the fact that the team travelled to Feilding for every game. Sandon played 13 games, securing four 3-point and five 2-point wins; High School 10 games, two 3-point and five 2- wins; Feilding, 11 games, one 3- and three 2-point wins; Old Boys, 12 games, one 3-point and two 2-point wins. It is pleasing to report that the primary schools competition has been revived. This competition does not finish until December, the association having decided that the period for play be for a calendar year. A number of representative games were played. Our colts team was successful against the Wanganui junior representatives and on the same day we engaged a team from the Foxton Association at Ivowhai Park. This game resulted in a comfortable win for Foxton. On Anni-

versary Day we were at home to Rangitikei, the game resulting ■ in a win for the visitors by 31 runs. Our representative team journeyed to Levin to fulfil its annual fixture, but found the home team too strong. On Easter Saturday we met the Wellington junior champion team, StopOuts, and after an interesting game, were defeated by six runs. On Easj ter Monday we journeyed to Palmer--1 ston North to try. conclusions with I Manawatu, our side being victorious by nine runs. A feature of this game was the excellent bowling for the Feilding side by M. Barltrop, who secured seven wickets for 49 runs. The Feilding junior representatives also met ►the Manawatu junior representatives. Although easily defeated, our . team thoroughly enjoyed the game and efforts should be made to cater for the juniors in future. Our thanks are due to Mr A. Anderson, of the Sandon Club, for his interest in the welfare of the junior players generally and his work in arranging representative games. “At the end of last season our association was invited to a conference convened by the Manawatu Cricket Association in order to discuss proposals in regard to the affiliation of sub-associations. Mr W. H. Winsor, secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, addressed the meeting and pointed out that it was his council’s wish that the Three sub-associations at present in existence within the area allocated to the Manawatu Cricket Association should become attached tothe New Zealand Council. This could only be brought about by affiliation with the controlling authority of the district, which was the Manawatu Cricket Association. The meeting decided to ask the Manawatu Association to amend its rules so a.s to permit of the admission of sub-associations. These rules were duly drafted and were submitted to a special general meeting of Feilding cricketers. The meeting discussed in detail the amended rules and

it was eventually decided to affiliate. We wish to express our thanks to the ladies’ committee for their work in providing afternoon teas during the year; to Mr. J. Penney for the use of his rooms for our meetings; to Mr C. Hostick our honorary auditor; and to the Press.”
