WAIKATO BEAT WANGANUI. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Sept. 20. In a hard and fast Rugby match at Hamilton to-day AVaikato defeated Wanganui by 34 to 19. AVaikato outshone the visitors in all departments, and Aitkin was outstanding in the AVaikato backline, running right through the defence on several occasions. CANTERBURY MATTERS. The Canterbury Rugby Union has agreed to a. request by the AVest Coast Union that a Canterbury A fifteen will visit Greymouth and play AVest Coast on October 7. , A statement made at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union that no manager had been appointed for the South Island team to play the North Island at AVellington on Saturday led to some members expressing concern. “There has always been laxity in getting a South Island team on to the field,” said Mr J. Moloney. The president, Mr A. E. McPhail, closed the discussion when he reiharked that the South Island selectors, Messrs P. Harvey and A. Adams, would bo travelling with the team. “We can safely leave it to them,” he said.
